Intro

Tri–X–Noise starts with the first pictures I took at punk shows in Austin, and covers whatever I happened to be obsessed with since then. Between 1980 and 1984 I shot around 12,000 images of basically every punk band that was touring—Minutemen, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Misfits, Husker Du, Circle Jerks… and all the Texas bands at the time, Big Boys, the Dicks, Butthole Surfers, Really Red, the Offenders, DRI, MDC… plus a bunch of skating— backyard ramps, ditches, home–spun contests in Austin, skating with Tony Alva when we went on tour to CA… and Texas skaters like Jeff Phillips, Craig Johnson, John Gibson…

Tri–X–Noise includes the pictorial results of my 30–year love affair with graffiti, starting with the discovery that freight trains were, in fact, actually secret art galleries that ferried drawings by unknown geniuses from coast to coast. Tri–X–Noise was my time in San Francisco in the 90s where I shot graffiti while working as a bike messenger. It’s a record of all the weird places I’ve lived, like Shreveport, Waxahachie, Braddock, and road trips that I remember only from the photographs. It’s a scrapbook, built 36 frames at a time.

Tri–X–Noise is a place where I can put inexpensive prints up for sale. The idea is to make a direct connection between my darkroom and you and to make prints as accessible as possible. They are twenty–five bucks for an 8×10. They are real analog photoprints– b/w double-weight fiber paper, archivally processed.

I’m going to start posting images up here as I make prints. There’s no schedule— when I get a new batch I’ll put them up. If you want to know when new images are available please sign the mailing list.

So, 8×10s only, all printed full frame, signed, no editions, no digital, no custom orders.

Check back soon to see what comes out of the fixer.
